WebCrawler® was the first fully indexed search engine on the Web. Created by Brian Pinkerton at the University of Washington, WebCrawler joined the InfoSpace family of search products in 2001. InfoSpace also owns and operates the metasearch engines Dogpile and MetaCrawler, and provides the search results for Excite.

WebCrawler.com web search is designed to identify the intent of a user’s search and results will be listed in separate sections and in order of relevance, with sponsored results at the top and bottom of the page, and organic results showing in between.

A Web crawler is also known as a Web spider, automatic indexer or simply crawler.
